Natural Remedies?

By February 27, 2012 - 8:44am

Has anyone had any luck on finding natural remedies for your digestive issues? I've found that eating a clean diet with minimally processed foods can really help, depending on the severity of your digestive issues. As a firm believer in moderation, I think that it's okay not to be so strict all the time. However, reaching for that sugary, dairy frappuccino or piece of chocolate cake may result in consequences.

Any other tips on naturally controlling digestive issues?

I just bought a supplemental probiotic recently and will start taking it today. I'll give it a couple of weeks and let you know if I feel better!

Thanks Susan!

Another thing that may help with digestive issues, is probiotics.  Probiotics are the good bacteria in your digestive system, and are often recommended for those on antibiotics, to put the good bacteria back in your system. Probiotics can be found in yogurt or other sources, or taken as a supplement. When choosing a probiotic supplement, consider a probiotic with a prebiotic (food for a probiotic). This will help the good bacteria live in your system longer.

Hi Danielle

I know it has been said over and over but tons of fiber is my best friend! High fiber cereals like Kellogg's All Bran or Fiber One offer more than half the fiber needed in a day. Apples, raspberries (that I love and that are surprisingly high in fiber!) and whole grains can really help the digestive system.
