The Missing Heartbeat

Please share about your immediate reaction to hearing the news: that there's no heartbeat, that your baby is stillborn, that your baby is gone.

This was my first pregnancy. We'd just got married in October of last year and wanted to start our family right away. We found out I was pregnant the week before Christmas. I started spotting over Christmas so I made sure that I went into the dr. as soon as I could. On January 4th the Dr. called to notify me that my HcG levels were dropping. I was working so I didn't take the call and foolishly called her back. My immediate reaction was to vomit. I left work immediately and called my husband who was nervously waiting for the news as well. I begged him to stay at work, ensuring him I would be okay. I just wanted to be alone. I came home, locked all the doors, shut the dogs out of the bedroom, and screamed at God for hours. When I finally got tired of screaming I laid down, cried, and slept until my husband came home.

This group is for women who have suffered the loss of a child. This includes miscarriages, stillbirths, and accidents and crimes. This group is also open to women who have had abortions and still feel the weight of that decision. We also welcome women who have given up children for adoption because in a way they too have lost a child. So, whether you have actually held your baby in your arms or not come share your story of loss and survival with us. You never know how your experience can help someone else in theirs.
