How would you feel if you lost all power over your rape case?

By July 22, 2012 - 7:19pm

Recently, I read an article about Savannah Dietrich, a 17 year old girl who was raped and now facing jailtime for tweeting her rapists names, which was against the court's ruling. Do you think that these days, the rapists are now protected more than the victims? Do you think this girl did what was right? She even stated " Why would she protect them, when they made her life a living hell?" What would you do in this case? Are rape cases now on days, being taken seriously when it involves teens? May I add that these underage boys got an easy sentence; Would you react the same way?

Thank you Susan for giving us your opinon :)
Yes, the lastest update on this situation is that Savannah will not be going to jail or does she need to pay money. That's all I know. I will keep everyone updated. I hope she can get justice.

Hi Evanesence17

Thank you for starting such an important group. I hope other rape survivor's can add their input here about this story. It's very ironic that these rapists (who plead guilty!) took pictures of their rape victim during/after the assault and showed them to others and are now crying about their privacy being "violated". The violators feel violated. Savannah is incredibly brave to accept jail time in order to speak. I have no idea why these rapists are afforded such privacy, especially that they plead guilty to first-degree sexual abuse and actually circulated photos of them raping a young woman. I support her 100%.
