This Group Will Be Merged With

By HERWriter Guide May 13, 2012 - 1:45pm

Hi All
Due to inactivity, we'd like to advise that we are merging this Group with the more active Transgender Male to Female Support Group here: https://www.empowher.com/groups/Transgender-MaletoFemale

We encourage members here to head on over to Lori's group where we can combine our stories, concerns, inspirations and support.

We will then deactivate this Group.
Best,
~Susan

Hello all, I hope that you will agree that the merge of the two groups for transgender individuals will benefit all members in the two groups by having one central group.
As the "leader" of the merged group, I have no agenda; the group is open to anyone interested in the topic or who is actively engaged in transition.

In my reading to become educated on the complex world of trans, I realize that with each generation, the landscape has and is changing (for the good I believe) where the old ideas are merged with new lifestyle realities of how people are actually living.

Historically, my read is that there needed to be "standards of care" and limited definitions of what "transgender" meant to the professional-medical community, the individuals who identified as trans, the GLBT community (Gay Lesbian Bi-sexual Transgender) and the general public.

As more and more individuals came forward, the mold did not fit for the diverse binary continuum of female and male. Being either or did not work, because some identified as both, neither, 25-75... or whatever!

With that in mind, and inviting family members, significant others (SO), committed partners, poly-families, siblings or interested parties are welcome to post, question, answer, or provide view-points. As long as a post is respectful and honoring the view or reality of others, this group is for all.

I look forward to each of you becoming an active member of the new merged group. Please invite your friends to become a member and join in the conversations in this group.

Hugs, Lori
