Lack of CM

By October 1, 2010 - 4:46pm

I have been trying for about 4 months now to get pregnant. I have 2 other kids, ages 3 & 5. I notice that since I have been trying to monitor my ovulation there is hardly any CM. Last month I had a few good days before ovulation but none at the time of ovulation. Is this a sign that I may have a major fertility problem or is this from being older this time arnd. I am 31 yrs old.

thank you for your time everyone

Thank you for your response. I have had low CM the whole time that I have been trying to conceive this time around.

I use an OPK and take my temps every day. I notice that from a few days before ov thru the rest of the month there is no CM that I can see. Some months I have had some CM days leading up to ov but without fail I have none a couple days before and days of ov.

Any suggestions?

Hi Shamy

Thanks for your question!

31 is generally not an issue (age wise) when it comes to having babies. There are more issues over the age of 35 and definitely 40 but 31 is not considered a concern when it comes to fertility and age.

Have less CM is not an indicator of infertility and since you have a 5 and 3 year old, you know that you are capable of having children. If this happened just one month then I wouldn't worry about it and remember that not all women see an increase in CM and those that do, may not see an increase every month.

If you have only been TTC for four months, you'll need to give it another eight months before looking into this further, even if you conceived your other children quite quickly. For a person under the age of 35, trying for one full year is needed until a health care professional needs to be brought in to discuss possible fertility issues. I know it's hard to get your period every month and it's very disappointing to get it, but hang in there and keep trying!

Shamy, are you using an ovulation predictor kit?
