Janice Shares Where "Our Lady Of Weight Loss" Came From (VIDEO)

Janice Taylor, "Our Lady of Weight Loss," shares why she coined this phrase.

Janice:
Our Lady of Weight Loss is who initially joined me at that first meeting on that really important day and said, “You’re an artist; make weight loss an art project.” It felt so much like a voice was coming from the outside.

I grew up down the block from a convent, Our Lady of the Snows is out in Blue Point, Long Island, and as I said, I was a fat kid, and my dad owned a pharmacy, and my mom and I would make drug deliveries to the nuns, and they were the only people in the whole town, including my family, who didn’t make mention of my fat. They just said, “What a nice little girl, aren’t you a good girl making deliveries with your mom,” and I was so appreciative that they were just pleasant and nice and didn’t make me feel badly about anything.

And the other thing was that my friend Ginny, her dad was a grounds keeper, and every once in a while we got to play on the grounds. So I would go to the statues of Mary, of the Virgin Mary, and I would pray, and I would pray that I would - it’s kind of sad because I was a little kid - but I would pray that I would wake up naturally thin and for white go-go boots.
