Luella Shares Her Heart Story With EmpowHer (VIDEO)

I am Lue (Luella), and I want to tell you about my heart condition. I had a pacemaker put in 22 years ago for 3-second pauses. My heart just wanted to stop at times, and now the past six months, I've had atrial fibrillation. So I have gone the route there, and they finally changed the pacemaker too because one of the leads was not in right, and then they saw something on my EKG, and the doctor did a cardiac cath and I had a stent put in in the LAD.

So now I am on a lot of medications, Plavix and Aspirin and Coumadin, because with the atrial fibrillation they were afraid that I would have some clots, and well, I did pass a clot to my retina, whether that was from that or not, no one has actually said, but I am still under scrutiny and checking the pacemaker. And yesterday I had the pacemaker checked and they found, which was surprising, that I had a dizzy spell about two weeks ago, and he asked me and I said, “Yes, I did,” and he said, “Well, that showed up on the pacemaker.”

So now they are checking that further because apparently it was a ventricular fibrillation, and they have to get that checked out because that can be more serious, as I understand it.
