Shopping to Support Heart Research

With American Heart Month right around the corner in February, it’s a time of reflection to remember those we’ve lost to heart disease and also to educate others and raise awareness of heart disease. One easy way to make a difference in the battle against heart disease is to support companies that actively participate in heart disease awareness programs such as the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease or The Heart Truth (a national awareness campaign sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) identified by its signature Red Dress symbol).

The success of such programs is due in large part due to corporate sponsors who support heart health programs in a variety of ways, including donating corporate funds, matching funds from private donations or product sales, donating a portion of proceeds from corporate merchandise sold, promoting heart health program symbols (such as The Heart Truth’s Red Dress) on company merchandise, donating a portion of the products sold, sponsoring wellness clinics or other health events, distributing heart literature, and much, much more. As we approach American Heart Month, supporting companies that are advocates for heart health is an easy way to participate in the battle against heart disease in women. Whether you’re looking for fashion, food, or beauty (or anything in-between), a simple Internet search will reveal an extensive list of heart health conscious corporations. While certainly not exhaustive, the list below reveals just some of the companies that support heart health.

For more information on companies that support heart research, check out the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute's The Heart Truth website at:
