Alternative therapies such as meridian treatment, aromatherapy and alternate medical systems like homeopathy offer some solutions for the miserable symptoms that hepatitis conditions bring about in patients. Let’s take a look:

MERIDIAN THERAPY
The liver meridian is one of the 12 main meridians of the body and in the body, it begins at the top of the big toe of each leg and ascends up the inside of the legs to the genital regions continuing upward to just below the nipples on both the left and the right side of the persons thorax. As per Chinese Medicine, meridians are pathways through which the universal energy, ch’i circulates in our body organs and keeps the energy system of our body in harmony.

Hepatitis will exhibit itself as a pain on the right side of the abdomen around where the liver is located below the ribcage. Providing finger pressure or massage along this line brings equilibrium in the liver meridian and is said to be a curative for all liver conditions facing internal imbalance.

As per meridian therapy, the liver meridian is most active and receives its daily boost of energy between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. This would be the perfect time to give it pressure or massage.

AROMATHERAPY
Certain combinations of essential oils are stimulating to the liver. The inflammation of liver tissues due to hepatitis infection and the general enlargement of liver causing its functional sluggishness can be cured by giving an effleurage massage (light pressure massage) with the following oils:

Carrier oil - 2 ounces of safflower oil
Top note oil – 2 drops of lemon oil (caution--may cause skin irritation)
Middle note oil – 2 drops of peppermint oil (caution--do not use during pregnancy; also causes drowsiness)
Base note oil – 2 drops of rose oil (Caution--do not use during pregnancy; also known as Friar’s balsam)

HOMEOPATHY
There are some homeopathic drugs that have proven very effective and successful in the treatment of hepatitis A. However, it must be remembered that all homeopathic medicines should be taken in the prescribed doses and timings as suggested by your homeopathic doctor. What suits one patient may not the other as each of our body constitutions is different and we have varying degrees of symptom acuteness and medical histories, etc. The medicines that are usually given to treat hepatitis are: (Source: EDoses Homeopathy; Report Title: Hepatitis Homeopathy Remedy; URL: http://www.edoses.com/homeopathic-remedies/hepatitis.html)
