Dr. Carrie Louise Daenell is a naturopathic physician looking out for your physical and mental health. She sees that the effects of stress can cause chronic fatigue. This is a different condition from chronic fatigue syndrome.

Dr. Daenell might use adaptogens and nutrients. She'll try to restore healthy levels of neurotransmitters, and try to re-institute healthy sleep patterns. These are just a few of the methods she'll call upon to help restore health and well-being.

(Transcribed from video interview)

Dr. Daenell:
Does the modern woman’s lifestyle contribute to higher cortisol levels? You bet it does. It pretty much sends them through the roof and that’s not a very good way to live long term. I call it, ‘borrowing from tomorrow to give you today’. Eventually the bill comes due and your bankrupt and that’s where women get into trouble. They end up with something called chronic fatigue.

If you have any friends with chronic fatigue, you know they’re not having any fun. You really don’t want to go there from here. I think three important interventions that you could do to prevent it, after you’re done cleaning up your lifestyle and doing the very best you can with the way you manage your life and your stress is Ashwagandha, which is an important herb that can support in this way, phosphatidylserine, which is an important nutrient, and L-theanine, which is an important nutrient.

We’re supporting healthy brain levels of neurotransmitters like GABA and dopamine, we’re supporting alpha brainwave activity, which is very important at night when you try to go into those sleep stages where you get the restful restorative sleep, your body tissue rebuilds and you wake up feeling refreshed, and also during the day a calm, relaxed, what I call ‘reasonable’ feeling that allows you to deal with all the crazy things you have to do on your list without kind of losing it.
