Nancy explains if oxygen treatment helps alleviate her pulmonary fibrosis symptoms and shares which medications she is taking.
Nancy:
You may hear during this interview a puff of air when I inhale, that is the delivery of my oxygen, which is not constant at this time because I am out of my house.
At home I have a concentrator that delivers constantly.
With the oxygen with me I can do most of my shopping, I can take care of myself and do pretty much what everybody else does as long as I can stop and sit down every once in a while.
Without the oxygen I would be flat on my back somewhere.
I am on one pill a day of Theophylline, plus I have respiratory meds that are inhaled.
The inhaled medications that I take are Spiriva, Symbicort and Xopenex and I also have a teflon pearl, it’s called, that is a pill that I can take to help get mucus up and to help free my lungs as needed.
I don’t take it every day. So with that, a lot of people are on different things and different things work for different people.
