Having a baby is one of Mother Nature’s biggest miracles! But for some couples, pregnancy is a miracle that just doesn’t happen. According to the Centers for Disease Control 6.7 million women between the ages of 15 – 44 have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a baby to term. These couples are struggling with infertility issues.

Infertility is defined as the inability to get pregnant during a 12-month time period in which you are having frequent, unprotected sex. Infertility can occur because of health challenges from either the man or the woman and sometimes it is a combination of issues involving both of them.

Today I want to focus on one particular disease causing infertility in women, called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). PCOS causes a hormonal imbalance in women that prevents women from ovulating. If a woman does not ovulate she is not releasing eggs to be fertilized.

In the female hormonal cascade, male hormones are produced as precursors to female hormones. If the male hormones are not converted into female hormones, an excess of androgens are created, preventing ovulation.

Many women with PCOS are also insulin resistant which is a precursor to diabetes and prediabetes. Insulin resistance also causes excess androgen production. Infertility can then be a consequence of insulin resistance.

In PCOS women produce an excess of androgen also, causing symptoms of irregular or absent periods, along with excess hair growth on the face, chest, abdomen or thighs, or thinning of the hair. Other symptoms include darkening of the skin, especially in the skin folds of the neck, acne, diabetes or pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, heavy bleeding, or heart disease.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a very treatable form of infertility. I have had excellent success helping women with PCOS to create normal periods and to be able to ovulate regularly.

Several women who have come to me for treatment have become pregnant using my protocols focused on a whole foods, blood-sugar-balancing diet, and lifestyle changes including appropriate sleep, stress management and the right supplementation.

Planning for a family is an exciting time for a couple. Clearing up female hormonal imbalances and insulin resistance issues will create a safer and healthier pregnancy for the mom and the baby. If you want more information on help for PCOS, visit my website www. HealthyDaes.org.
