The Day After Chemotherapy

Today is day three after chemo…I think.

I woke up to my doorbell ringing. I totally forgot that I had a meeting with a lady who was coming over to help consult me on the bathroom remodel. Yikes! I immediately felt the effects of the morning chemo kicking in…that feeling of being dehydrated and drained of all nutrients. I popped some pills hoping that the feeling would soon pass. My friend Michelle came over with lunch which helped tremedously. Tonight I am starting to feel a sore throat coming on. I am hoping this doesn’t mean anything and will be gone tomorrow. I have physical therapy tomorrow bright and early. I’ve had to cancel the past couple of appointments because I wasn’t feeling all that hot. I have to admit that I have been really bad at keeping up with the exercises that the physical therapist and occupational therapist have assigned. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even picked up the sheet that they gave me.

My friend Tammy is coming to be a caregiver with her son on Tuesday. It will be nice to have someone here again. I’ve had several friends stay over the past few weeks, but it’s not the same as having a caregiver here, especially after having chemo. Just getting up to get water can be a big trip. Her boyfriend Matt is doing much better and should be out of the hospital in the next couple of days. He has some brain damage and trouble with his cognitive thinking, but nothing that he can’t work on. He’s very lucky that his situation wasn’t worse, although he has a long road ahead of him.
