Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
The term inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to two disorders that involve inflammation of the intestines: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis . These are each discussed in their own articles.
Another condition called irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is sometimes confused with IBD. However, IBS is a less serious illness that does not involve inflammation.
