Dr. Shosh:
The short answer to that question is “yes,” women with a past history of depression are definitely at higher risk than others. However, no one is immune, anyone. Any woman, even with a clean history as we call it, with no history at all of any mood disorder, depression or otherwise. It does not mean that they could not get a postpartum depression. So this information is important to get out to every pregnant woman and every new mom and couple.
