Dr. Raiszadeh:
Health insurance does cover back pain to varying degrees, meaning that physical therapy can be authorized for a few visits, eight visits sometimes with some insurances, sometimes six. The problem is this, in that the length of time needed to restore the muscle strength sometimes is much more than what is covered by insurance, and this is why programs like the SpineZone are helpful because we do extend the amount of time periods. We know that patients need to establish the strength, and it does take time. We can’t do it in six visits. You can’t restore ten years of lack of activity with six visits of therapy.
