Dr. Daenell:
Unfortunately, those symptoms are also associated in some cases with an elevated risk for estrogen-related diseases. And so, in my practice, instead of simply treating the symptoms, which I am not saying those symptoms aren't
important, they are very important, these are quality-of-life symptoms.
When a woman can’t keep her cool throughout the day of work or maintain a good relationship with her loved ones, it’s not really that funny anymore; it’s very serious. But at the same time, it’s serious from a health perspective because you can guarantee that when her hormones are out of balance her risk is definitely going to be elevated.
So what I do is I use a couple of targeted nutritional supplements. One of them diindolylmethane that is complex with phosphatidylcholine, a special combination that is well absorbed, that works in the liver to make sure that your estrogen will break down into something that can fight risk instead of causing it.
Most women don’t even know that estrogen can fight risk. They’re just scared of it as they move into looking at the HRT question through menopause and, in the digestive system, when the digestive system . . . do I keep talking about the digestive system? It’s so very important.
When the digestive system isn't perfectly healthy, we don’t always get rid of toxins and estrogens on time the way our liver intends, and so I use calcium digluconate, not calcium like for your bones, but calcium digluconate to make sure that all the estrogens and the toxins that your liver has gone to the trouble to bind up for release actually leave the body on time.
Two simple interventions, nutritional protocols that a person could use every day on their own to completely reduce their risk and improve their quality of life. I have in fact got phone calls from husbands I have never met, thanking me for giving them back the person they used to know.
