The 2009 Ovarian Cancer Alliance Run/Walk to Create Awareness and Break the Silence.

Todd:
Did you know ovarian cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths among all women in the United States? Hi, this is Todd Hartley, and I am live right now at an amazing health event–the 2009 Ovarian Cancer Alliances Run/Walk, to create awareness and break silence.

Roughly two to three thousand people showed up for this health event.

Paula:
EmpowHer joined our team today, and we are very grateful that they did because I think they are wonderful, and we had a great turnout. It was just awesome, absolutely awesome. Our team name is Teal Memory Walk for Sherry and Margaret. Sherry is my daughter who passed away from ovarian cancer just about two years ago now, and Margaret is the aunt of a friend of mine who also has ovarian cancer, who passed away many years ago from ovarian cancer.

Todd:
The good news is ovarian cancer is very treatable when diagnosed early, but a vast majority of the cases go undiagnosed until it’s too late. So to help create awareness, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America sponsored this event to help get the word out.

Tiffany:
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America, we are winning the fight against cancer every day, and it starts with early detection and prevention. It was important for Cancer Treatment Centers of America to sponsor this event today because it creates awareness for ovarian cancer and helps break the silence.

Todd:
And if you’d like to find local health events in your area like the cancer event or a seminar or a lecture or even a run/walk like we participated in today, all you have to do is go to EmpowHer.com where we have got nearly 1.7 million health events loaded at your fingertips.

All you have to do, go to “Health Events” on EmpowHer, enter your city, your state or even your zip code, enter your health topic of interest, and Health Events by EmpowHer will pull all of those events up and put them available right on the screen for you.

For EmpowHer, the home of women’s health online, I am Todd Hartley wishing you health, happiness and of course access to the best health information possible.
