Dr. Wright:
Initially, it is really important that the scar not be revealed. There is so much drama on television in visuals of throats being cut and people dying, that it’s really important that depending on the age of the children that there’s an educational process that goes on, anticipating it, and then revealing the scar or the incision when it seems really appropriate. But to be really mindful that this is a much more dramatic scar than say, a wound on the arm or belly, and just be conscious of that.
