VIDEO: What Are Bio Identical Hormones? - Dr. Christensen
20 of 20
Dr. Christensen:
It is important to use bioidentical hormones versus synthetic hormones because bioidentical is exactly like the body would make itself. So our body which has evolved over a millions of years to create hormonal balance on its own knows what to do with that hormone and how to break it down. The problem with the a lot of synthetic hormones is that they have molecules attached to them that the body really does not recognize and has a much harder time breaking down and the breakdown products what we called the metabolites often times are what is toxic to the system and really puts a lot of burden on the detoxification mechanisms in the body particularly in the liver, and that, in and of itself can create a lot of disturbances across many different areas of our organ systems.
