VIDEO: Dr. Bernstein - What Are Focal Neurological Symptoms?

November 3, 2008 - 2:02pm 576 reads comments

Dr. Bernstein, Harvard's migraine expert, explains what focal neurological symptoms are.

Dr. Bernstein:
Those are symptoms that affect one part of your body and/or the other, but not both. So sometimes when people have a migraine they will get tired; they will feel weak all over. Those are less concerning than if you suddenly could not move your hand on the left or if you had numbness in your entire right leg. Those would make me worry that you are having a stroke.
