Dr. Kim:
Hi, I am Dr. Choll Kim, and I am the Director of the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Program at Alvarado Hospital.
The Center for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at Alvarado Hospital is special because it is part of a much larger advanced spine institute, and it’s one of the only few hospitals that I know of that has a dedicated spine unit where all the rooms in one area of the hospital are dedicated to the care of spine patients and spine patients only, and the nurses are highly specialized. They only take care of spine patients so we can provide a very high level of care, and that’s really important for minimally invasive surgery, which is a new field and a field that is very technological.
A lot of small details that are different from the traditional treatment of spine patients and also very important for patients to get the maximum benefits. So we have a situation where we have excellent state-of-the-art technology, combined with the infrastructure and the personnel that can really provide the necessary care to make that type of procedure even more effective.
