VIDEO: Dr. Kogan - How Can Women Learn To Manage Stress?

August 22, 2009 - 5:23pm 356 reads 0 comments

Dr. Kogan describes how woman can learn stress management techniques.

Dr. Kogan:
Before we, you know, discuss treatments for stress, we have to identify what is stress, and really, you know, stress is something that comes with a territory of being a human being. Having more than one person in a room is already a stress, okay? You recording this video right now creates for a variety of stressful situations, you know, me trying to speak proper English; not being an English native speaker creates a lot of possibilities for a stressful situation.

Stress is present throughout our lives and in order for us to talk about the treatment for it, we have to identify what’s normal and what’s not normal. It’s normal for people to be stressed for a short period of time. We are equipped with a system to deal with short periods of stress: fight or flight system.

What we don’t want to have in our lives is a chronic stress, you know, a prolonged, constant exposure to stress, and for those situations, as a physician I recommend relaxation techniques, hypnotherapy; I recommend acupuncture, massage therapy, proper nutrition, balanced foods, good sleep–all the good things.
