VIDEO: Dr. Lazarus - Do Thyroid Disorder Symptoms Differ Between Pregnant And Nonpregnant Women?

December 5, 2008 - 10:01am 263 reads 0 comments

Dr. Lazarus shares if thyroid disorder symptoms are the same or different for pregnant and nonpregnant women.

Dr. Lazarus:
Not really, the problem is that the symptoms of thyroid disorders in pregnancy are very similar to the symptoms of just being pregnant. For example, some women who are pregnant feel tired, they have other very non-specific symptoms which you can get in thyroid disease.

So it’s not enough to say that you can diagnose the thyroid disease by just examining the woman on asking her about symptoms because they could just be due to pregnancy alone.
