VIDEO: Dr. Lazarus - Pregnant Women With Thyroid Disorders, Are There Alternative Therapies?

Dr. Lazarus shares if there are any better alternative therapies for pregnant women with thyroid disorders.

Dr. Lazarus:
The only therapy that is important is to ensure that the woman is taking enough iodine in relation to thyroid. It is important that a pregnant woman takes in about 250 mcg of iodine a day, and if that means taking a vitamin supplement with iodine in it, then that should be done.

Generally in the United States, although iodine levels have fallen in the last decade, there is still normally sufficient iodine for normal pregnancy to occur.
