Dr. Raczkowski:
I believe that the major advantage to minimally invasive surgery--the use of a robot, which allows you to use tiny incisions, decreases the trauma to the patient and allows for a quicker recovery, for one. But also, it also persuades patients to have their problems taken care of earlier.
The fear of having a large incision, cosmetically unpleasant incision, is gone so that patients can concentrate more on the recovery process, the improvement in their quality of life rather than worrying about the impact it’s going to have on their body image, things of that nature.
