VIDEO: Nutritionist Carolyn Lammersfeld - Mother Standard® Of Care, What Is This?

March 20, 2009 - 1:28pm 342 reads 0 comments

Nutritionist Carolyn Lammersfeld explains the Mother Standard® of care.

Nutritionist Carolyn Lammersfeld:
Personally, to me the Mother Standard® of care really means treating every patient as if they were your mother or father, brother, someone you loved, that you would want everything done for them when you wanted it done for them and so, for me and for my team of dieticians that works with me it means, if a patient feels like a particular food at the time and you don’t have it, you go get it yourself or you figure out a way to get it here as expeditiously as possible so that it’s one less thing the patient and their family members have to worry about.

So it’s really just being responsive to needs and it means we’ve all, I’ve run to the store to get something for a patient or, we’ve work with our food service department to have something here within a 24-hour period. So it’s there when the patient wants it, particularly with food in this population because what you have a taste for now may not be what you have a taste for tomorrow. So you want to take advantage of that opportunity when it presents itself.
