Deborah Kesten:
Three things to help women be waist-smart – one, fresh whole food in its natural state as often as possible. Fresh fruits and veggies and whole grains and beans and peas and lean dairy, fish, meat and poultry, that’s number one. Number two is to be aware of your feelings before, during, and after eating because the number one reason we have identified for women overeating is emotional eating.
So be aware of your feelings before, during, and after eating and identify if you are hungry. It’s interesting we use the term, “Do I feel hungry?” or “Do I feel full?” Well, if you don’t feel hungry, what do you feel like you need?
So be aware of feelings and get where you really need, if it’s not the food. And three is to eat mindfully, is to bring moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness to every aspect of the meal and just enjoy the food and be with the food when you are eating.
