Deborah Kesten:
We have in our minds the concept of, “Do you really want to have a good relationship with my spouse? I really want to have a close relationship with my children. I want to have a good relationship with work. I want to care about my job. I want to have a good relationship with co-workers.”

And then there’s food, and I am suggesting that food become as important to us as our relationship with our spouse and with our partner and with our children and with our job, and to relate to food as something that is as important to our health, emotional health, physical health, and the entire quality of our life as any other relationship. That is probably the best thing we can do in terms of optimal eating and starting to shift our thinking away from dieting, to optimal eating and caring about our own bodies.
