Dr. Barba:
Recurrent brain tumors are tumors that have previously been treated and now have evidence of actually returning, and those happen very frequently with malignant brain tumors and less frequently, but occasionally with the benign tumors. It’s important to recognize when you have a recurrent brain tumor because if you can catch them early, treatment is frequently easier and has a better chance of putting you in remission. That is, getting rid of your tumor.

Common recurrent brain tumors would be glial neoplasms of the brain, glial tumors of the brain, or metastatic tumor is the more aggressive tumor, or possibly the more benign tumor such as meningioma or acoustic neuroma.
