Dr. Sorof introduces herself and describes the role of an interventional cardiologist.

Dr. Sorof:
Hi. My name is Dr. Suzanne Sorof and I am a interventional cardiologist and I am also a specialist in women’s cardiology. I have been practicing cardiology for about, since 2006 is when I finished my training but I have been doing interventions for about two years. I moved out to Phoenix a year ago.

I am part of the Heart and Vascular Center of Arizona. It’s my practice but I am also President of the American Heart Association here in Phoenix and I am also a member of the Arizona ACC, which is the Arizona American College of Cardiology Mission Lifeline Committee.

My main hospitals are the Banner Good Samaritan, I also go to Banner Estrella Hospital and we have affiliations with other hospitals here in the valley.

An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist who actually goes into the body through blood vessels and fixes vessels that have narrowings or blockages. So we do extra training in order to learn how to manipulate wires and balloons to open up clogged arteries, either in the neck, in the carotids, in the heart, we do legs, the legs and the kidney arteries as well.

About Dr. Sorof, M.D.:
Dr. Suzanne Sorof, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. She earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She also completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals Residency Program. She then completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia.
