Gloria shares why she believes some people oppose birth control.

Gloria:
Well, you’ve heard the phrase ”barefoot and pregnant,” right? And it kind of gets a laugh, but those two things are really tied together. It’s not just about birth control per se; it’s about whether women are going to have an equal place in the world, whether women will be able to make their own way economically as well as socially. And, the opposition to birth control, when you peel back the layers, I think is basically a couple of things. One is often discomfort about the nature and purpose of human sexuality, but even more than that, it really is an issue of what your world view is about what the proper role of women is in this world.

And so, if you believe that women should be able to have the same opportunities that men do in the world, you believe that women should have an equal place at life’s table, pretty much you think birth control is okay.
