Meditation: The Only Way You Can Grow

When you mention meditation to some people, their eyes glaze over and you can tell they are thinking, “Oh no, one of these weirdos,” but meditation does not deserve such reputation. If you are a skeptic, ask yourself what you actually know about meditation.

If you have never tried it then you are not qualified to comment. Meditation is not just for hippies or people on ‘vegan retreats’. It is an exceptional tool. It is nothing more than deep breathing, clearing of the mind, and total peace and quiet!

In a world where our minds go a hundred miles a minute, there is always a radio on, kids screaming, the neighbors lawn mower, a siren, the TV on, and more. our mind doesn’t get any space. It never takes a break. When you start giving your mind ‘me time’ it will start working much more efficiently.

To meditate, all you need to do is shut your eyes, clear your mind, and breathe deeply. Do it for as long as you can.

If your mind drifts, simply clear it again. The more you do it, the easier this gets. Five minutes of this is great progress for a beginner. More experienced mediators can practice for half an hour or more.

You will feel refreshed, relaxed, and energized afterwards. There are various meditation techniques, do a search online to read about them. This site is a good one: www.meditationsociety.com/108meds.html

Meditation is not sleep and sleep is not meditation. Although meditation can help one sleep better, as well as many other benefits:
*Clearer thought
*Healthy blood pressure
*Reduced stress, anxiety, and headaches
*Increase in happy hormones
*Stronger immune system
*Improved memory
*Healthy emotions
*A sense of peace and happiness
*Faster solutions to problems

Once you feel the benefits of meditation you will never want to stop. Whether you are a mum to 6, high profile CEO, or sitting in a jail cell, meditation will change your life – if you let it.

We value and respect the experiences of all of our HERWriters, but everyone is different. Many of our writers are speaking from personal experience, and what's worked for them may not work for you. Their articles are not a substitute for medical advice although we hope you can gain knowledge from their insight.
