If you’re suffering from anxiety, June is the month for answers. In fact, if you suffer from any mental health issues/disorders such as depression, it could benefit you to attend two online anxiety summits that are happening this month.

Both summits include online presentations you can listen to, some of which are live, and others which are recordings. The presentations involve a variety of topics about anxiety and other mental health issues by experts in the mental health field.

Many of the presentations are free, but others you will need to buy if interested. Here is a breakdown of what to expect from each summit:

1)The Anxiety Summit

This online summit is hosted by certified nutritionist and author Trudy Scott. She is the past president of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals.

For the summit, Scott interviews a variety of experts on the topics of anxiety, food and mood. There are also presentations on stress and depression.

There are currently 21 experts to listen to, not including Scott’s own presentations. A complete list of experts and the summit schedule is available on the website above.

The summit runs from June 9-22, 2014. If you register with your email and name on the website, presentations are free to listen to within 24 hours of posting. You will receive a link via email of the interviews for that day.

If you miss the 24-hour window to listen to an interview, then you do have the option to buy all recordings, which you will receive online in digital format once the summit is completed.

One option is to pay $69 for all MP3 audio files (price may increase after June 22). Another option is to pay $99 for all MP3 audio files, complete transcripts and three-page interview highlights (price may increase after June 22).

One of the presenters is Julie Matthews, a certified nutrition consultant and author of “Nourishing Hope for Autism.” Her talk is called “Bioindividual Nutrition for Anxiety: How special diets and avoiding certain foods can support individuals with anxiety.”

“The brain is not this isolated island all by itself,” Matthews said in her interview with Scott. “It is connected to the body, and all the biochemistry that’s going on in the body affects what’s going on in the brain.”

“Some people will say the gut is the second brain,” Matthews added. “Gut flora is a really important factor in mood.”

Although Matthews’ book focuses on autism, she said the nutrition concepts can apply to other mental disorders like anxiety as well. She believes that different diets are effective for different people, that there is no one diet that works for everyone.

She mentions how even nutritious foods like apples, blueberries, almonds, honey and herbs/spices like turmeric can be harmful to certain individuals due to their salicylate content.

Salicylates are natural chemicals found in certain foods, but some people are not tolerant of them and it can negatively impact their mental health, according to Matthews. Reducing consumption of high-salicylate foods and doing an Epsom salt bath can help any negative reactions.

2)Beat Anxiety Now World Online Summit

Katherine Johnston is the founder and host of this online summit. According to the summit website, Johnston suffered from panic disorder with agoraphobia for about 15 years starting in her early 20s. She now wants to help others with similar mental health issues find the answers they’re looking for and get proper treatment.

The summit goes from June 16-25, 2014. Presentations focus on anxiety and depression. There are 25 speakers, and a complete list of experts and the summit schedule is available on the website above.

The summit presentations are live, and there is a live Q&A session at the end of each presentation. The presentations generally run from 45-60 minutes long. Sessions are recorded in case you miss them or want to view them later.

There was also a pre-summit series held from June 2-4, 2014. If you register on the website, there is limited space but you should still be able to sign up and access videos from the pre-summit series under the “Replays” tab. There are 10 videos available now to view for free.

If you want to listen to and participate in the full summit, you will need to buy a ticket. The full summit is held from June 16 -25, 2014.

For access to all live presentations and recordings, it’s $497. This includes “bonus downloadable gifts valued at over $47,” according to the website.

If you’re not satisfied with the first two days of the summit, you can request a refund.

Founder Katherine Johnston is also offering a special discount for EmpowHER readers. You can use the promo code “BAN14” and only pay $197 to attend the full summit.
