Kathy Shares Why She Thinks Multiple Sclerosis Affects More Women (VIDEO)

MS affects women because it is a hormonal condition. This is the one thing that I found and I work with a lot of other people with MS, as well as fibromyalgia and lupus, quite frankly, and those are all very resolvable diseases and the reason that we get those, women, much more than men do is because we obviously have more hormonal problems.

Our ovaries shut down at menopause and God bless them, men’s testes don’t, so that they, oftentimes, continue on and be very healthy hormonally where we often cannot make that transition. MS is, the mean age of onset of MS is 32; that’s the exact time that our hormones first start dropping. That mid 30s is when we see hormones drop radically with most women.
