Sarah recalls how she felt when her doctor downplayed her multiple sclerosis symptoms before she was diagnosed.
Sarah:
I was very upset. I know myself very well. I knew I wasn’t depressed. I knew there was something very real going on, and I just sort of gave up on doctors for a while because no one could help me. I had seen just about every specialist you could think of, except a neurologist, and everyone just sort of shrugged their shoulders and passed me on.
And I just said, enough, I’ll just deal with it. And I just dealt with the fatigue and dealt with the cognitive issues which I didn’t realize they were cognitive issues at the time, but I just sort of dealt with them the best I could. It wasn’t until I had an actual concrete physical symptom that doctors could understand, that they took me seriously.
