Get Some Muscle

June 26, 2009 - 8:30am 743 reads 1 comments

Did you know you burn four to six calories per one pound of fat per day, and you burn 30 calories per one pound of muscle per day? Strength train and get some muscle. You don't have to look like a body builder or muscle head, just a nice, toned and lean body. This will increase your resting metobolic rate, which in turn will make you burn more calories just being muscular, and in turn making weight loss easier.

I think this is very important for women to know. Many women are slaves to cardio and see no results in weight loss/changes. Gaining muscle will allow your body to burn more calories even just doing simple tasks throughout the day. Strength training is often intimidating to a lot of women, but it truly is a lot easier than one may think! It is actually quite fun! Gaining muscle will not only make you look better, but you will feel better too. Here are a couple links to some benefits of strength training:

I found this article on women's health discussing the differences of strength training vs. cardio. It is very interesting. Definitely a must read, check it out and get lifting!
