I have always read and heard great things about Planned Parenthood, and it is very saddening that today it has been forced to shut its doors in El Paso.

Thank you so much for posting about this. The majority of media attention thus far, unfortunately, is being driven by anti-choice supporters who are not focusing on the loss of medical services that Planned Parenthood provided.
There seems to be more to the story, but few answers have been forthcoming about how patients will transition or what kind of financial trouble occurred. This came as a shock to most connected with the community; the discontinuation of HIV/AIDS treatment was linked to the loss of a grant and the organization stated that overall they were 'not in trouble'. Regardless of what occurred, the community is most concerned with the loss of services to a vulnerable population.
