What great information. With regard to living with diabetes, I have a close friend who often gives himself 'a poke' (shot) under the table at restaurants. After about five years, this is commonplace for him and us and life goes on. While his diabetes is something he takes very seriously, it hasn't become a focus of life or conversation. He hasn't been shy about it, but does handle most of it with discretion.

Congratulations on your trip to Uganda. When you return, please share a story about your trip.

This was a great story! I have many, many people in my family who are living with diabetes; some happily and others are really struggling. It was helpful to hear what they may be going through...I never even thought of them having to make a decision to wear/not to wear their pump during swimming.

Please share more stories about the daily life of living with diabetes, as well as how diabetes impacted your trip to Uganda (both positive, neutral and negative ways)....it honestly helps me be a more supportive friend and relative.

thanks for sharing!!

Wow, thank you all for such great feedback! I will definitely make a post after returning from Uganda, but that is about a month from now! Just let me know any specific questions or concerns that you would like me to write about and I will do my best to answer from my experiences. Thanks for reading, and I'm so glad I could help!
