Dr. Russell describes how obese women can meet their desired weight loss goals.

Dr. Russell:
Just begin to walk a bit more and just beginning very simple changes can make a big difference. And I think that probably the most important thing is to remain hopeful. It didn’t happen right away and you won’t lose the weight right away, but appreciate that it’s a very long process with ups and downs, but ultimately, if you plan well and you work hard towards that goal, you can achieve what you want to achieve.

About Dr. Russell, M.D.:

Dr. George V. Russell, M.D., earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Denison University in 1988 and his M.D. at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1992. He subsequently completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Washington. Dr. Russell was formerly Assistant Professor in both the Orthopedic Trauma and Physician Assistant Studies at the University of South Alabama in Mobile before joining our department in October of 2000. He has authored or co-authored many published articles and presents both nationally and internationally on his specialty of orthopedic trauma.
