Hip Replacement Surgery: Why Was A Dedicated Orthopedic Medical Unit Important To You?

Bobette shares why the dedicated orthopedic medical unit at McKee Medical Center was important to her when she chose to have hip replacement surgery. She also recalls the follow-up care after her surgical procedure.

Bobette:
Well, it was important because they knew exactly what they were doing and they had experience with all kinds of orthopedic patients so therefore, when I would complain or when I would ask for something they didn’t seem surprised or confused by what I was asking. They seemed to understand perfectly what my needs were and they were competent again – competent, kind and caring and sensitive to orthopedic needs.

After I returned home they called to make sure and ask about my stay at the hospital and to ask how I was doing and there was such sincerity in the way that they asked that it was very touching and then about a week later I got a card in the mail and it was signed by all the nurses that I had had during my stay at McKee Medical Center and I thought, you know, that’s above and beyond what you expect from a hospital and that was very touching and very thoughtful.

Hi, I am Bobette and I came to McKee Medical Center to have my hip replaced. After returning home, Banner Health helped with my rehab and that was six months ago and now I am able to do things that I haven’t been able to do for a long time.
