Keri Shares Her Adoption Experience (VIDEO)

Keri:

We went through an adoption agency in North Carolina. We decided to, we picked a country, and we decided to go through that adoption agency, and we put our paperwork in. Shortly after we put our paperwork in, in July 2007, we got a phone call and our adoption agency, excuse me, it was a couple months before that, our adoption agency said, "We have a little baby girl for you," and they sent us over the picture and you immediately look at this picture and you just fall in love. And it took a couple of months for the paperwork to get processed.

By the time we went to go get her, she was seven months old, Ethiopia, and then a year later we adopted our son. He has been home actually 7 months today, actually this week, he was home 7 months, and we got him when he was 5 months old, and the feelings were just even more emotional with him too at the second time around.

They are both from Ethiopia and when we told people that we were adopting, they were shocked with that, and when we told them that we were adopting through Ethiopia, they couldn’t believe that as well. They just said, "Oh, how come you don’t have children of your own," or, "Those kids, don’t they have AIDS, aren’t they sick," and we said no, we did our research, and these kids were two of the healthiest kids that you could ever imagine for, coming from a third-world country.
