The What to Expect Foundation Endorses the Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act
What to Expect When You're Expecting is the number one book that friends and family members give to their expectant wives, mothers, sisters, aunts, and friends. And now, this nation wide foundation has endorsed The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act.
The foundation's founder, Heidi Murkoff, author of the book and founder of The What to Expect Foundation says "Melanie's tragic battle and Carol's passionate crusade have inspired this vital legislation, that will, if it's passed, educate health care providers, new moms and their family members about PPD, generating the awareness that can lead to better detection and treatment of this terrible disease in all its forms. So moms like Melanie can get the help they need, before it's too late. Let's make Melanie's battle and Carol's crusade our mission, too. As Mother's Day approaches, let's spread the word about the Melanie Stokes Mother's Act -- let's speak up and break the silence about PPD".
The What to Expect Foundation knew they were reaching the majority of book-buying moms, but what about the segment of pregnant women who couldn't afford pregnancy books, who didn't have the literacy skills necessary to read them. The women who need that essential information, and support, and empowerment the most, but who are least likely to receive it. So they created Baby Basics, a beautiful, culturally appropriate, low-literacy pregnancy guide that's given free to moms-to-be as part of a ground-breaking, comprehensive prenatal health literacy program. The book and program have already been provided, in English, Spanish, and Chinese (with support materials in 14 other languages) to nearly half a million expectant moms in need.
The What to Expect Foundation's mission? To help every mom know what to expect -- so that every mom can expect a healthier pregnancy, a safer delivery, and a healthier, happier baby.
And now The What To Expect is lending their power and support to the emotional postpartum period of new mothers lives as well!

I came across a very interesting post. It's about The Mothers Act. It gives a detailed description of the United States Senate involvement and why we be involved. Here is the link http://www.naturalnews.com/026229.html?source=123
