Dr. Wilson:

Progesterone is actually okay during early pregnancy and it's one of the main tools for ensuring that an early pregnancy continues, especially for women who may have a low progesterone level in their menstrual cycle. What I’ll do is support the progesterone level using natural progesterone and then continue that natural progesterone into early pregnancy until the placenta takes over.

The placenta takes over to make progesterone at about week 10 of pregnancy. So, we want to supplement the progesterone in early pregnancy, and what we find is actually improved intelligence in babies who have been exposed to progesterone in early pregnancy. So it’s very positive in terms of outcomes.
