Dr. Pohl shares some tips for women who are addicted to pain medication.

Dr. Pohl:
First tip is, being an addict isn’t the end of the world and the stigmatization that goes along with addiction needs to be smashed. So, if you have suspicion that you’re an addict, get past that part of it and just take a look at your behavior with response to drugs.

Are you taking more than prescribed? Are you taking them for emotional symptoms? Are you running out of your prescriptions early? Are you going to several physicians or dentists to fill that prescription? Do you have a contract with your doctor and you are not able to stick with it? If any of those things are happening it doesn’t mean you are a bad person. It just means you may be having troubles with your drugs.
