I'm sure I should be dismantling the differences between men and women, the psychology behind it all, male and female sexual mores and quoting such books as The Beauty Myth and The Feminine Mystique. But today my approach is a little more tongue in cheek, especially since the young man in question has compared himself to a civil rights legend. She risked prison for not giving her seat up to a white person; he offers sex to women for money. Call me crazy but I'm not seeing the connection!
We spoke before about a young man called 'Markus' who made history by becoming the first legal male prostitute in Nevada. Some were gung-ho for his right to do this, others less so.
But young Markus (who looks like Octomom with a crew cut) has only had 10 clients in the three months he was hired at The Shady Lady Ranch. He admitted that women just aren't into the male hooker phenom but both he and the Ranch said his parting was mutual. Interestingly, a new male prostitute has been hired, by the name of..... Y. Not.
Personally, I'd stick with just plain old Y.
It looks like Markus will be heading toward porn territory (although check to see if he does parties, ladies!) back in California.
If I wanted a 'prostidude', Markus wouldn't make the cut. I like my men less groomed that I. I have no idea what Y.Not looks like but I wish him great success in his new career. Time will tell how it works out for him.
But male prostitution dedicated to servicing women is a tough gig. It's legal and above board but a man selling himself to a woman is like a man selling ice-cream to a woman who owns an ice-cream shop. Who will pay for what they can get for free? For the excitement? I'm not sure women think like that.
Incidentally, Markus compared himself to Rosa Parks, with his efforts to end "sexual segregation". Y.Not may taking up the cause. I'm not sure if Marcus or Y. Not will join Mrs. Parks (or Susan B. Anthony or MLK Jr.) in the list of civil rights leaders but I do applaud their self-esteem.
