As a society, we eat more sugar than is good for us. A recent study looked at sugar and concluded that it poses a serious risk to cardiovascular health, good cholesterol, triglycerides and healthy body weight.
" 'We looked at a group of people representative of the U.S. population and found a very strong correlation between cardiovascular risk factors and the amount of sugar that people are consuming,' said Dr. Miriam B. Vos, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, and a member of a group reporting the finding in the April 21 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association."
Sugar is everywhere, and we eat more of it than we used to. According to the study, the average person whose sugar intake was 10.6 percent of their daily calories thirty years ago, is now consuming 15.8 percent of their calories in the form of sugar.
They found that as sugar consumption continues to soar, serious health problems continue to rise along with it.
