Dr. Karyn Eilber is a urologist trained in the treatment of incontinence, voiding dysfunction and female pelvic reconstruction.
Stress urinary incontinence is often treated with a urethral sling which supports the urethra (the tube leading from the bladder). This will prevent leakage of urine. Mild cases of incontinence often only require an injection that plumps up surrounding tissues.
Dr. Eilber points out that while vaginal prolapse and stress urinary incontinence will often appear together, they are two different conditions. Pessaries may be used in an attempt to correct incontinence though these are not always effective.
