I began taking paroxetine several years ago for peri-menopause symptoms (mood swings, hot flashes, anxiety). I take 20 mg just before bed once a day. Although, the paxil has greatly/tremendously helped my mood swings, hot flashes, and anxiety, I have noticed side affects that I really don't care for. I have gained almost 50 pounds, while constantly dieting and exercising. I watch very closely what I eat because I have food allergies to Wheat, and Nightshade foods (potatoe, tomatoe, pepper, etc). I consider myself active along with the exercise. I have also noticed a much decreased sexual interest. Although, I used to smoke - I quit before using the paxil. I have an alcholic beverage only on occassion. I am 45 with a great husband and two wonderful children.
