I am 42, I have a 6mm size fibroid in uterus. My bleeding last from 2 weeks to one month, it is light but very frustrating when I am not prepared for it. My husband knows to take the kids and not ask questions anymore when we are out and I say " I need to go NOW". I also have really bad cramps, mostly after my period and sharp pains every so often where it makes me double over. I have had an IUD in for the past 5 years, I wanted it removed but they at first could not find the string, then I had an ultra sound, internal and external they could not find it and said it must have fallen out. I finally had an x ray taken and low and behold there it was right in the middle but not in my uterus anymore but now in my pelvic area. I really have hated my IUD from the beginning and I think it was trying to escape my dislike of it. My sister also has fibroids which have been large as well and her first procedure was the UEA and then a year later she had a Myomectomy.
My doctors have suggested the following,
1. I could have an Endometrial Ablation which would take care of the bleeding and the fibroid but not the IUD and because of the size it is more than likely that it will come back soon.
2. A hysterectomy ( I hate that word and have asked them to never repeat it to me again. I am not ready or willing to do this.)
I need to know if anyone has ever had this lovely combo before and if they know of a good no make that great Dr. in Arizona that specialists in this type situation. I have a call into my Dr.'s office asking them to set up an MRI so that I can really tell if I have more than one large fibroid or if there are more hiding. Also I want to make sure I have it all down so a new Dr. can have all info in front of them. I just want to feel normal again so if anyone can help I am up for it. Thanks so much.
